The scugnizzi are Naples' street kids, the ones who've always turned an alleyway into a stadium and a rag ball into a cup final. Avanti Scugnizzi ("Onward, street kids") portrays them as if in an old-fashioned painting: two children running between the buildings, one in a light blue shirt, a scrap of paper passing from hand to hand, and behind them a whole gang giving chase. This is Neapolitan childhood as it was, and still is, if you go looking in the right neighbourhoods.
In the Black version, the painting stands out even more: warm colours on a black background, like a picture hung in a dark room. For those who prefer black, and for those who want that dash through the alley to be seen from afar.
